School Magazine Analysis

Chapel High leaflet

IN the contents page of the leaflet I found that the mages were importantly linked to the school and seemed to have some relevance. It showed groups of children together as there would be within a school, and this creates and image of harmony. It allows the reader to see clear that there are extra curricular activities on offer at the school without there having to be any writing on it. There are some bright colours which are trying to attract the attention of the reader and is also an attempt to be entertaining.

Within the contents page the use of language is quite informal as it is only a school leaflet which will often be designed and written by the students themselves. The use of low register lexis allows the leaflet to seem friendly and welcoming, and the bold font makes the leaflet seem informal but still attractive and catches the readers eye. The use of the bold font makes specific section stand out therefore showcasing what the school has to offer as well as making sure the school can show what they believe to be there best qualities.

The main page is very limited in terms of pictures however they are all related to the school and this creates the image of the school being and exciting happy place as all of the students within the pictures are enjoying themselves and smiling. It also offers an opportunity to showcase again, the school excellent credentials. However the picture of the two children standing together is unclear and this creates the image that the leaflet was rushed and not taken pride in.

The use of language again is informal and relaxed, this may be so the chidren can read the leaflet and not feel out of there depth if they are looking tro move schools. They use if informal ,language also make the school seem friendly and most importantly welcoming.
